Robert Lupițu, Editor-in-Chief of Calea Europeană, guest speaker at Security Corner, part of the Moldova Security Forum 2025
Relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova have become essential in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine and geopolitical competition in the broader Black Sea region. With the decisive support of Romania and its European partners, Chișinău has obtained EU candidate status and is benefiting from the largest package of European support in its history. On the security front, Moldova’s neutrality is respected but is being strengthened through new capabilities – ranging from cyber defense and anti-drone measures to joint exercises with Romania and the U.S. At the same time, Moldova has demonstrated remarkable resilience in the face of Russian propaganda and hybrid attacks, maintaining a firm pro-European course in elections.
